Kodak redesigned logo for the first time in a decade and bring back same "K" icon iteration which first introduced in 1971. The new logo launched across Kodak digital channels and raised behind smartphone Kodak Ektra.

Kodak brand's first smartphone operates on Android operating system and has a 21 megapixel camera with fast focus technology. Smartphone offers functionality DSLR and 4K video capture.

Studio based in New York, Work-Order, designed new identity to show graphical symbol yellow background with "K" red. Unlike iteration in 1971 and 1987 with horizontal "Kodak" word in "K" red, now written vertically in new version.

New identity is real change updates logo which has been since 2006 and displays the name company in the red and sans-serif typefaces underlined in yellow. Inspiration look back heritage brands and story of Kodak founder George Eastman.

"K" red with yellow background was first designed by Paul J. Oestreich in 1971. The logo has been used for 35 years but replaced by the "Kodak" red word mark in 2006.

"We want give new logo very careful to respect brand heritage, respect for science and creative vision Kodak," said Work-Order studio.

"Since the beginning of the 20th century, packaging and marketing of Kodak enveloped in warm yellow with red and black features. Our goal rebuild this power and never abandon yellow," said studio.

Kodak has pioneered photographic film in 1880s, introducing modern photography in 1900, camera shoot in 1960s, found world's first digital camera in 1975. In 1976 accounted for 90% of all films and 85% camera sales in US.

Vintage design Ektra smarphone implemented in leather accents and steel casing old cameras. Just like S8, Kodak wants modernize icon with many innovative features. Camera smartphone supported Kodak technology tradition taking open market.

Announcement came after Google entered mobile phone market with Google Pixel and Pixel XL is claimed the most powerful smartphone cameras. Kodak Ektra should perform well to seize the opportunity.

"Kodak Ektra very different from other devices on market. Styled like camera from barrels on the right side reminiscent 35 mm cartridge for shutter button will take you directly to camera if you double tap," said Danielle Atkins, Kodak's vice president of global brand and creative.

"We wanted create premium camera centric smartphone by the design of product and combination of hardware and software specifically provide premium camera experience," said Atkins.

Design has been mandated in future brand strategy to bring back Kodak's image as innovative brand in publik creative works field by combining digital and analog technologies.

Looking to the past to evoke nostalgia sense is not just rebranding, but also product development. Not only visual brand identity, but also design of consumer products which means brand vision and new strategies.

"We have been part any imaging innovations during the past 128 years. Like many companies in business environment more agile, that's where our focus right now," said Atkins.
