Tinuku ~ Yogyakarta Province’s Forest Management Units Board build an open stage in the Mangunan pine forest at Bantul to organize artistic performances. An outdoor stage is designed to provide unique sensation in middle of dense Pinus merkusii forest in Bantul Regency.

Forest Management Units Board, Yogyakarta Province, build an open stage on a cliff in Mangunan pine forest area of 500 hectares in Bantul to held variety of performing arts. A unique architectural masterpiece dedicated by the government to unite fun art activities and natural environment.

The visitors can enjoy art performances while feeling sensation of wind and hear chirping of birds live in wild. Land is mostly covered in pine needles dried up like a rug, sunlight peeking through trees. A barren land green again after a reforestation program as a protected forest area has developed into an art arena.

A theater built on sloping ground and pick the semi-circle layout. A stage to showcase the performing arts using pine wood board material and arranged into three parts, each part is semicircular and put together to form a half petals.

Points to the audience in traps designed to adjust the contour of forest slope. The chairs are made from pieces of whole trees and laid out in semicircle to stage as a central axis. Chair built lined up making it easier for audience on the edge to easily watch the show.

The designers did the cutting and leveling of soil surface to spruce up area, but the trees in area are not cut so provide shade and generate dramatic atmosphere when the sun entered by penetrating through the trees stand straight.

Each block row of seats reached using paths and stairs made of logs. Cobblestones arranged on the surface of stairs as the decor floor and prevent slippery surface. The visitors were led by walkways to get to area and chose the place.

"Barren region now has green in a long process. In 2014 we open to public," said Aji Sukmono, the Head of Forest Management Units Board Yogyakarta.

The management also designed many simple huts rustic architectural style and natural materials. Construction has four poles use bamboo material to support the roof made of woven palm leaves. Each of these huts have been equipped with bamboo and wooden benches of plain design.

Management also build towers using wood and bamboo attached to trees to offer views of forest to visitors. The towers as high as 5 meters accessed using a ladder, while other towers as high as 10 arranged in two levels.

Mangunan Pine Forest in Bantul is public forest managed by the state, designed to campground and hammocking land. All residents can visit to get peace, fresh air or just listen to the chirping of birds were beautiful.
