The aircraft is designed by Irkut Corporation and the Yakovlev Design Bureau will be produced by UAC and has made its inaugural flight on 28 May 2017. Sumadi said the aviation world will have more choices as needed and prices more competitive.

"The more products offered the more opportunities to choose. The more supply you can choose what you need at a more competitive price," Sumadi said on Saturday.

Russian-made MC-21 aircraft is a type of plane accommodates 165 to 211 passengers are often used in Indonesia. Currently, the fleet of airlines in Indonesia requires a lot of aircraft with a capacity of 211 passengers or less.

The Irkut MC-21 is the same size as the Chinese-made Comac C919 launched in April, Airbus 320 and Boeing 737-800. However the C919 has a half price of A-320 and B737.

"To match or not definitely depends on the corporation to do the exploration to get the best efficiency and interest in Indonesia. I leave it to our airline corporations like Garuda, Lion, Sriwijaya and others," said Sumadi.
