Firma DesignStudio berbasis di San Francisco mengubah logo singa tradisional liga yang telah dikenakan sejak tahun 1992 menjadi bentuk lebih fleksibel. Penyelenggara Liga Premier menugaskan studio menciptakan identitas visual baru "modern dan fleksibel" untuk musim 2016/17 dan seterusnya.

"Kami sangat senang dengan hasilnya bahwa identitas visual relevan, modern dan fleksibel yang membantu kami dirayakan semua orang dengan Liga Premier," kata Richard Masters, direktur manajer Premier League.

Desain membuang sejumlah elemen kunci logo lama seperti bola dan tubuh singa. Sebuah mahkota tetap dipertahankan seperti iterasi sebelumnya dari tahun 2007. Penghapusan merek bank Barclays berarti Liga Premier tidak memiliki sponsor utama untuk pertama kalinya dalam sejarah.

"Tujuannya untuk mencapai pergeseran budaya sangat besar bagi Liga Premier dan mengatasi kesalahpahaman tentang organisasi," kata Paul Stafford, pendiri DesignStudio.

"Penelitian kami menyimpulkan pendapat positif tentang Liga, tapi negatif tentang bisnis. Ini tahun pertama brand baru Premier League dan kesempatan untuk menggeser persepsi," kata Stafford.

Logo baru memungkinkan menjangkau khalayak luas. Liga Premier yang disiarkan di 212 negara dan identitas visual harus tampil di stadion, spot iklan, seragam pemain, merchandise, tiket pertandingan, broadcast grafis dan "1 billion Nike footballs".

Untuk mewujudkannya, DesignStudio menyajikan kit lebih luas yang dapat disesuaikan untuk tujuan yang berbeda termasuk versi logo dalam berbagai ukuran dengan minimalisasi teks serta warna latar belakang yang berbeda dan pola terkait.

"Tidak bisa berkomunikasi dengan cara monolitik. Kami memberi Liga Premier toolkit yang memungkinkan untuk beradaptasi dan fleksibel sesuai penggunaan," kata Stafford.

Sejumlah merek-merek terkenal telah bergerak ke arah desain identitas minimalis dalam beberapa tahun terakhir seiring meningkatnya minat dalam kemasan produk yang lebih sederhana. Pada tahun 2010 Antrepo untuk produk supermarket menjadi salah satu demonstrasi awal tren ini.

Mastercard adalah gerakan terbaru merek yang mengadopsi desain minimalis. Identitas visual baru yang didesain Pentagram mempertahankan lingkaran ikonik merah dan kuning tumpang tindih tapi garis-garis di bagian tengah untuk warna blok oranye.

European Union and ASEAN to restart Free Trade Agreement

Tinuku - European Union (EU) and ASEAN have agreed to restart the process of forming Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as ASEAN coordinator for EU-ASEAN relations said on Saturday to build a framework to identify potential sectors to finalize the deal.

Lee also said the EU and ASEAN had agreed to restart the process of establishing a free trade agreement between the two blocs. The EU and ASEAN launched talks towards a pact in 2007 but ignored the process two years later as the EU voted to negotiate bilaterally with each country.


"As coordinators, we look forward to forming a framework to identify where areas where we have the potential to make a deal," Lee said.

"Working on a deal may take longer than the end of the year. But if we can identify where the big opportunities are, our trade-offs, then I hope we will have better success," Lee said.

Malaysia reviews potential of monopoly by Grab and Uber mergers

Tinuku - Malaysia's transport ministry said Wednesday it is studying the potential of monopoly in the ride-hailing market triggered by Grab and Uber mergers under several existing regulations. Uber Technologies Inc. sold their business in Southeast Asia to Grab in March in exchange for shares in a Singapore-based company.

The ministry said the land transport agency received many complaints about Grab raising tariffs since the merger. Grab has become the dominant player in the region. Last week, Singapore's anti-trust agency proposed a fine on Grab and Uber where mergers have reduced competition and suggested improvements such as the sale of a car rental business.
