Tinuku ~ Academic services center building Makassar State University was designed as new icon for Makassar city. Phinisi Tower by architect Yu Sing inspired cultural wisdom of South Sulawesi.

Exploration building design emphasis on deepening local knowledge as a source of inspiration translated from the meaning of Makassar State University logo, the traditional house Makassar, South Sulawesi community life philosophy and boat phinisi.

A series of forms and details contemporary design believed to form modern campus. Hiperbolic paraboloid facade system is expression of futuristic design. Buildings as embodiment set of meanings, functions and applications to be transformed into architecture figure.

Design by Yu Sing and Akanoma studio applied after winning competition held by the University. Building 17 floors enhance architectural value becomes more than just figure of aesthetic, but also has local tradition.

The lower part consists of foundation building. One semi-basement floors for parking areas and land elevated two meters so as to form natural fence around the land. In western part built an artificial lake triangular terraced to process wastewater.

The main part podium trapezoidal form with beveled side facing the main street. The building response to angle sloping land and strategies to prolong facade as well as visual control to outside of the building.

In the design process, building podiums split into four parts to create a wind tunnel and track sunlight into all spaces. Right in the middle of the axis is an empty elliptical void splitting podium building.

Void surrounded by ramp and at the peak installed turbine exhaust steam to drain the pond as cooling element temperature. Podium building wall in form brownish glass reflector with fins functioning sun visor made of stainless steel. Fins designed as part façade with wave pattern.

The tower has trapezoidal floor plan with symmetrical facade on both sides sloping use system hiperbolic paraboloid structures. Facade tower experienced rhythmic rotation to form a dynamic expression.

Horizontal canopies on the north and south façade side also serves as photovoltaics to convert solar energy into electrical energy. On west and east facade sides are three-dimensional ornaments wall formed from series of triangular areas as barrier to sunlight.

Stage, wind tunnel, pools, artificial lakes, rooftop garden, artificial forest and cross-ventilation is series of systems that work to cool temperature around all building as well as noise reduction.
