Tinuku ~ Robot Single Actuator Wave-like (SAW) menggunakan satu Motor untuk merayap, memanjat dan berenang sebagaimana terinspirasi gerakan ular.

Gerak robot adalah tujuan R&D sejak lama dan insinyur datang dengan berbagai macam cara membuat robot bergerak apakah meluncur, merangkak, berenang atau bahkan berjalan seperti manusia, kecoa dan salamander.

Beberapa peneliti mendekati tugas gerakan robot dari perspektif lebih teoritis dalam biomimetika yang mengemulasi kiprah hewan sebenarnya seperti Multi-Appendage Robotic System (MARS) dari Virginia Tech's Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory, sekarang disimpan di University of California, Los Angeles.

Tujuan asli proyek MARS adalah mengembangkan sistem kiprah berjalan yang mampu bernegosiasi dengan variasi medan sehingga jari-jari kaki axi-simetris di sekitar tubuh. Hasilnya adalah sebuah robot yang terlihat seperti raksasa laba-laba berkaki enam.

Sekarang insinyur Ben-Gurion University di Negev mengembangkan robot pertama yang dihasilkan gerakan gelombang menggunakan tunggal. Terinspirasi gerak ular, Single Actuator Wave-like Robot (SAW) terlihat seperti mainan anak-anak, tapi bergerak maju dan mundur dengan memproduksi gelombang sinus terus maju.

Mesin berbakat dapat memanjat vertikal dalam terowongan dan merangkak di berbagai permukaan seperti pasir, rumput dan kerikil menggunakan roda pasif hanya untuk kemudi. Para peneliti melaporkan ke jurnal Bioinspiration & Biomimetics

Kecepatan tertinggi 57 cm per detik dalam gerakan horisontal yaitu 5 kali lebih cepat daripada robot serupa dan bisa merangkak mundur. Sedangkan kecepatan top dalam memancat adalah 8 cm per detik.

David Zarrouk dan mendesain robot untuk misi pemeliharaan, pencarian, penyelamatan dan aplikasi keamanan. Tapi dapat ditingkatkan dan dibangun dalam versi yang lebih besar. Robot kuat SAW dapat diandalkan karena hanya membutuhkan sedikit perawatan, mudah dibuat dan hemat energi.



"Kami mengembangkan sebuah model robot kinematik yang menyumbang mekanik 2 dimensi gerak dan menghasilkan kecepatan relatif terhadap motor," kata Zarrouk dan rekan.

"Dengan mengoptimalkan parameter, kami berhasil membuat perjalanan robot 13% lebih cepat dari kecepatan gelombang itu sendiri," kata Zarrouk dan rekan.

Robot tidak memiliki tulang belakang lurus internal dan arah dari gerak ditentukan oleh arah putaran motor. Desain sederhana robot SAW hanya membutuhkan satu motor dengan 2 versi tahan air. Versi tahan dapat berenang dengan kecepatan puncak 6 cm per detik.

Versi yang lebih kecil seukuran pena. Bahkan miniaturisasi lebih lanjut mungkin menjadi robot berdiameter 1 cm atau kurang yang dapat digunakan untuk perjalanan dalam tubuh manusia selama prosedur diagnostik seperti pencitraan biopsi.

Masayoshi Son says Japan is stupid to disallow ride-sharing

Tinuku - SoftBank Group Corp CEO Masayoshi Son blasted Japan on Thursday for not allowing ride-sharing services, calling it “stupid” and saying the country was lagging overseas rivals in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI). Son has also been highly critical of the government previously when SoftBank was still a fledgling telecoms service trying to break up a cosy duopoly in Japan.

The comments reflect Son’s frustration with Japan where he built SoftBank’s domestic telecoms business, the cash engine that has powered his investments. The group has, however, focused its growing range of technology investments overseas. Japan outlaws non-professional drivers from transporting paying customers on safety grounds and the country’s taxi industry lobby has vigorously opposed deregulation.

Hyundai Mobis increases AI scale to spur efficiency

Tinuku - Hyundai Mobis, the auto parts making unit of Hyundai Motor Group, implemented artificial intelligence to its software screening process and document search system for improved efficiency and accuracy. The company said Sunday The move came in line with the latest efforts to shift into a software-centered company and to diversify the use of AI in research and development.

The AI-based software screening system, dubbed Mobis Artificial Intelligence Software Testing, jointly made with a professor of South Korea’s top science and technology university KAIST, will screen new software based on algorithm made by researchers. Wipro increased Q1 net profit up 11% to $307.55 million

Tinuku - Wipro’s first-quarter net profit rises 11% to $307.55 million from $277 million in the preceding three months. Wipro Ltd on Friday reported first-quarter earnings that beat analysts expectations, primarily on account of gains made from divestment of one of its businesses.

India’s third biggest software services exporter guided for revenue to grow at best 2.3% in the current quarter, leading some analysts to believe that while Wipro’s sequential growth is improving, it is still far from turning the corner.
