Tinuku UberPool warrants Singapore to avoid congestion

Warren Tseng, General Manager of Uber Singapore, in the Communic Asia Summit 2017 forum said Uber is an application platform for transportation services has spread across 70 countries with more than 500 cities since launching in 2009.

"We are working with the government. Uber's innovation is bringing together drivers and passengers. We first appeared in Singapore in 2013," said Tseng at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

"We try this innovation to answer the needs of the community is to accelerate human mobility to access MRT or LRT," said Tseng.

Uber Singapore did not dismiss transportation contributed 22 percent of carbon emissions. Similarly, the operation of Uber is feared to add congestion. As a solution, Uber increases UberPool's use as a last mile transportation so passengers can share travel and also payments become cheaper.

Tseng asserts UberPool to be a transport that allows mass rapid transportation (MRT) and light rail tranbsit (LRT) users to arrive home faster. Uber claims UberPool optimization will reduce the number of private vehicles on the highway up to 90 percent.

Thus UberPool is not a bus, LRT and MRT competitor. Tseng claimed by permission of the Government of Singapore, Uber is not a substitute for MRT and LRT, so Uber is also supported by the government.

"Less than a year, UberPool reduces approximately Sin$12.5 which is equivalent to 590 mil liters of gasoline, as well as 1.4 tones of carbon dioxide (CO2)," Tseng said.

Tseng stated Asia Pacific is a huge market for Uber. The presence of a digital taxi platform becomes a solution for last mile transportation because 95 percent of parked vehicles are simply not used.

Growth of the driver increased rapidly 4 percent globally and by 2030 the growth of online taxi business platforms reached 25 percent. Later, Uber also make new innovations using self-driving tech cars.
