Bukalapak net income US$1.5 million every month

Tinuku ~ Bukalapak.com claims net income of Rp20 billion (approx US$1.5 million) every month. The Bukalapak e-commerce site founded by Achmad Zaky in 2010 always receives questions from many about Bukalapak's revenue value. For seven years Zaky might find it difficult to unlock his company secrets, now he has said it.

Zaky always said it was too early to announce revenue considering Bukalapak is a pioneering company that focuses on user growth and the number of transactions growth.

But at a media conference on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 Zaky said about his company's earnings. He claims Bukalapak's monthly net income in 2017 is Rp20 billion.

"I am often asked about revenue, it is always included in the FAQ list, and in 2017 we hit net revenue of Rp20 billion every month," Zaky said.

The 31-year-old said the value of net income grew fivefold compared to the previous year. Zaky said the company is very aggressive promotions to better introduce the brand Bukalapak to build profits.

Promotion and branding is a must for e-commerce in Indonesia in business battle with other e-commerce. Bukalapak must fight directly with competitors are Tokopedia, Lazada supported by Alibaba, and Blibli which is supported by Djarum Group funding.

"We have to be creative in searching for unique promotional and marketing ideas to hit the public," Zaky says.

Bukalapak receives funding support from Emtek Group, throughout 2016 recorded daily transaction value of Rp50 billion. The value of this transaction grew rapidly compared to Rp7 billion in 2015 and only Rp500 million in 2014.
