The trend of electric motorcycle seems to be increasingly widespread in Indonesia for the next few years. Triangle Motorindo and Bosch have officially sold Viar Q1 last week. The move will be forwarded by Garasindo and the Surabaya Institute of Technology to sell Gesits this year and Honda has set up an EV-CUB for 2018.

"We are trying to promote electrification for the commuter motorcycle model and we plan to introduce some new products including electric scooters by 2018," Hachigo said.

Indonesia's President Joko Widodo in March has ratified the official regulation on the National General Energy Plan (RUEN) that at least 2.1 million units of electric motorcycles must be included in automotive sales in Indonesia by 2025.

The EV-CUB scooter was first introduced in 2015 using the retro-electric design of the Honda Super Cub motorcycle. The conventional combustion engine version was first produced in 1958 has become one of the legendary products in Indonesia.

President Director of Astra Honda Motor Indonesia, Toshiyuki Inuma, said that Honda is ready to become a future production base and will produce a fully electric or plug-in hybrid version with two-thirds of total motorcycle production.

Another phenomenal product of Honda is Goldwing is also rumored to be produced in electric motorcycle version with the Neo Wing brand.
