"We are seeing good growth in Indonesia, even before we decided to expand into this country. We have also learned that Indonesia's potential is huge," said KKday co-founder and CEO Ming Chen on Monday.

KKday opens services in Indonesia as a concrete step of Series A+ funding of US$7 million led by Monk's Hill Ventures, AppWorks and several other investors. Previously, in March 2016 they also received a US$5 million Series A funding led by AppWorks.

KKday is established in 2014 as a tourist platform that allows users to book more than 6000 travel packages worldwide. Currently they already have around 5 million active users worldwide and 70 percent are women.

Regional Executive Director Kkday, Rebecca Leung, said the company always conducts research, field research and presenting services in secret before being officially present in new cities including in some countries in Southeast Asia.

"We send staff to talk to local people and learn their responses, learn what they need and make the necessary adjustments. We identify whether the market is profitable and problem-free before we launch the official product," Leung said.

Chen said KKday presents payment services using credit cards, PayPal and Android Pay. KKday currently has appointed former Airbnb employee, Putri Pingkan, as Marketing Manager in Indonesia. They also started running a campaign to find brand ambassadors.

"We have recruited local people to help us manage the market and localize. We also plan to implement a local payment system to facilitate the ordering process in Indonesia," Chen said.

In Indonesia, many conventional travel agencies have been able to help KKday in looking for tour packages, but Chen said the conventional tour agencies are not able to serve the online market well and KKday will play a lot and finish everything.
