Miso Robotics's Flippy will installed in 50 burger restaurants

CaliBurger LLC will use the Flippy robot from Miso Robotics to cook burgers in 50 locations around the world. The burger restaurant will use robot named Flippy as a kitchen assistant to replace human workers to flip burgers over a fryer that started testing the engine earlier this year.

Miso Robotics was founded by David Zito, Ryan Sinnet and Rob Anderson in July 2016 to build assistant robots. This start-up focuses on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to address high-risk jobs in restaurants and food preparation.

Flippy has the ability to process any flip burger. Machine learning algorithms allow to select raw burgers from a pile or flip that is already on the grill. The company said Flippy could be installed in less than five minutes.

The robot has an arm and six axes that allow it to do a lot of freely moves to perform the task. Flippy grabs a burger, moves on a hot grill, notes every time and temperature, then warns the human chef to put on cheese or lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and others.
