Omise gets fresh funding from Krungsri Finnovate

Omise.co gets the latest funding from Krungsri Finnovate that will be used for regional business expansion. A payment gateway and blockchain tech startup headquartered in Bangkok announced it has collected Series B plus funding from Thailand's Krungsri Finnovate, a subsidiary of Bank of Ayudhya, for an undisclosed amount.

Omise serves digital payments including OmiseGo products and real-time blockchain money transfers in Thailand, Singapore and Japan. This startup on previous funding raised US$25 million from SBI Investment, Indonesia's Sinar Mas Digital Ventures, Ascend Money of Thailand, Singapore's Golden Gate Ventures, East Ventures and 500 Startups.

Startup was established by Jun Hasegawa and Donnie Harinsut in 2013 and raised US$25 million from ICO in 2014. The service supports credit and debit card, internet banking and Alipay payments. Omise's payment gateway is similar to Midtrans, Doku, and Xendit in Indonesia.

Major clients are merchants, fast food restaurants, property and insurance. Omise also said it would launch an immediate bill payment in Thailand where a merchant generates code and customers use it to visit the store to pay using cash.
