Deutsche Bahn has operated the first self-driving bus on public roads in Bavaria to serve locals from the train station to the city center. The German transport company operates autonomous bus to transport city residents with a 700-meter route between the railway station, the city center, and Birnbacher.

Deutsche Bahn became the first to operate autonomous minibus in Germany to transport customers. The bus was designed by French startup, EasyMile, as an electric vehicle and autonomously trails the public streets using sensors, lasers and GPS systems.

"We have just moved autonomists into a new era of transportation. Bad Birnbach and Deutsche Bahn have written traffic history in Germany," said Deutsche Bahn CEO Richard Lutz.

Deutsche Bahn plans to develop further autonomous minibuses in the future where it will act like a private car service to pick up passengers upon request from home through an app. Bus called EasyMile that can accommodate up to 6 people.
