Paypro and traditional taxis collaborate on QR payments

Indosat Ooredoo's Paypro.id partnered with Bajaj transport for payment using QR codes. Fintech has collaborated with 800 famous traditional taxis called Bajaj in Jakarta. Each tricycle will be equipped with a QR code where passengers make payments using the PayPro plaform.

Passengers pay for transportation services via smartphones not only for Go-Jek, Grab, Uber and other online taxis. Paypro, a provider of digital payment solutions and financial services, announced Thursday that it is working with several traditional taxis in Jakarta.

PayPro CEO, Heidi Bokau, said the company chose to partner with several Bajaj transport entrepreneurs in which the traditional taxi transport mode is very much in Jakarta. The tricycle service is also available in Banjarmasin, Pekanbaru and several cities in Indonesia.

"We are also targeting PayPro to be used for other public transportation payments," Bokau said.

Bokau said each vehicle will be equipped with a QR code where passengers make payments using a smartphone. Payment of transportation services by scanning QR code via PayPro application which will commence in use by the end of November 2017.

PayPro serves a digital payment system without requiring a bank account. Users perform topups through retails and other companies. PayPro is not the only one in Indonesia where Dimo Pay also offers similar services and has also partnered with many merchants for payment using QR codes.
