"The bottom line is to give a hard blow to a petrol car, driving a petrol sports car will feel like a steam engine," Musk said.

Tesla Semi trucks claimed to lower costs by up to 20% more per mile compared to diesel trucks. In addition to faster acceleration, better uphill performance, the range of 500 miles (805 km) with maximum weight at highway speeds and the front glass withstand thermonuclear explosions.

Musk said every company would "economic suicide" if it continues to use diesel trucks. Semi trucks in the convoy will be cheaper than sending goods by train. Tesla will continue to innovate where traditional mobility using fossil fuels will be less competitive.

The Musk promise on Roadster cars is accelerated from 0 to 60 mph and 0 to 100 mph all of which are "world records" for mass production cars. Tesla says truck production will begin in 2019 and sports cars will be available by 2020.

Competition in the electric truck market has been heating up. In October, Daimler AG announced Mitsubishi E-FUSO Vision One. Other companies that work on electric trucks include Volkswagen, Cummins and Nikola.
