Astronauts make pizza at International Space Station
The crew at the International Space Station spent little time to lay out sandwiches, ketchup, cheese, pepperoni, olives, anchovy paste and pesto. Six astronauts tossed, twirled it and floated in low gravity, then heated and ate it.
Commander Randy Bresnik calls up a pizza "a flying saucer of the edible kind, and the crew has a passion for channeling the talent of the chef by building a delicious pizza for the evening."
The NASA space station manager, Kirk Shireman, empathized with the wishes of Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli for pizza and in mid-November sent all the ingredients to the Orbital ATK capsule. Nespoli will land in Kazakhstan on December 14 with Bresnik and a Russian cosmonaut.
