Qwikwire payments raised $9 million through ICO

Qwikwire.com has raised US$9 million through an initial coin offering (ICO). Manila-based cross-border payments for property developers startup also launched Aqwire as a decentralized application built on blockchain technology that allows property developers to sell their units to customers around the world.

"We are growing and we are launching a fundraiser through ICO to collect US$9 million.We launched Aqwire as the first blockchain platform for property developers to register their properties to international buyers," Qwikwire CEO Ray Refundo said.

The Qwikwire payment system allows cross-border billing for companies. Startups established in 2013 will also launch Aqwire as a decentralized application using blockchain where property developers sell their units to any customer in the world.

Qwikwire aims to remove reliance on intermediaries such as agents, brokers, and other marketing channels where buyers can directly contact the property developer. To date the company has raised more than US$700,000.
