SoftBank in talk of $300 million for DoorDash

SoftBank Group Corp. is in talks to invest about US$300 million in DoorDash. The Minato giant is rumored to be preparing money for a on-demand restaurant delivery service startup headquartered in San Francisco where the plan is still in talks and not final.

SoftBank's Vision Fund makes a new step that is considered strategic by investing US$300 million in the platform. The company was founded by Tony Xu, Stanley Tang, Andy Fang and Evan Charles Moore in 2013 and currently has about 130 employees.

DoorDash has amassed hundreds of millions over several funding rounds including SV Angel, Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. In 2015 is rumored to hold fundraising talks in the valuation of at least US$1 billion.

Startup compete hard in the shipping space including GrubHub, Postmate and UberEats. DoorDash recently said 51 of the top 100 restaurant network in the U.S. has shipping agreement with the company including Wendy's, Cheesecake Factory and Jack in the Box.
