Elon Musk confirmed Tesla pickup truck will come after Model Y

Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, confirmed the pickup truck will come after Model Y. The electric vehicle company has set up a large and wild pickup truck to send a traditional-engined pickup truck to the brink of extinction. Musk has confirmed that the long-rumored high-capacity vehicle is Tesla Semi in the mini version.

"What if we just made a mini version of the Tesla Semi? It’s a pickup truck that can carry a pickup truck. By the way, you will actually be able to drive that with a normal driver’s license. It’s kind of wrong, but I like it," said Musk.

Pickup is designed for a standard driver license in which the vehicle will not exceed the medium-duty truck specification of Class 6. Musk in September said the Tesla pickup will likely be a miniature version of Semi that has one shaft and uses three motors, similar to the Roadster style.

"I promise that we will make a pickup truck right after Model Y. Have had the core design/engineering elements in my mind for almost 5 years. Am dying to build it," siad Musk.

Tesla aims to begin production of the Model Y compact SUV by 2019 and possibly at its factory in China. Model Y is designed to have a large carryover of the Model 3 components to speed up production and immediately hit the market. The company seeks to reduce research and development costs by utilizing a proven platform.
