China started to halt production and sales of 553 passenger vehicles. The China Vehicle Technology Service Center says the government is starting to stop petrol and diesel cars that do not meet the country's fuel consumption limit to reduce pollution where the halt will impact on brands such as Audi, Chevrolet and Mercedes Benz.

The China Vehicle Technology Service Center has installed rows of cars to stop being manufactured as the first time the country makes an official list of vehicles deemed to be against such rules and documents will often appear in the future.

The government says it's an important step to ensure the long-term healthy industry development where climate change becomes China's political vision. The air is getting worse in major cities in the country where pollution has strangled Beijing long ago.

China is one of the biggest markets for electric vehicles and the industry ministry has scheduled to ban the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles. Last week, the government extended the tax rebate of eco-friendly vehicles until December 2020.
