Mitsubishi Aircraft announced MRJ jet will be delivered by 2020

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation announces to launch the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ70 and MRJ90) aircraft to pending orders by 2020. The giant Minato says it is ready to deliver repeatedly delayed commercial jets, even though it is risky resulting in order cancellations.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft has been delayed five times from its initial delivery target in 2013 which led to a cost freeze. Orders by Eastern Air Lines are likely to disappear and have sparked more questions about the project's prospects.

"We are running quite according to plan. We can make it," said Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp president Hisakazu Mizutani.

Mizutani said the plan risked losing orders from Eastern Air Lines for 20 aircraft, but the company said it was "continuing to talk" with the airline and the order had not been canceled. Mitsubishi Aircraft is owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. where Toyota Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Corp. also hold shares.

Overall the company has orders of 233 to 90 seats and aims to sell over 1,000 aircraft over two decades. Buyers like ANA Holdings said that they have no plans to cancel orders despite delays.
