Go-Jek enters Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Philippines in next few months

Tinuku - Go-Jek announced to enter the market in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines in the next few months. Indonesian ride-hailing and online payment firm on Thursday said it would have invested US$500 million to boost international services covering Southeast Asia.

"People in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines do not feel that they get enough choice when it comes to ride-hailing," said Go-Jek founder and CEO Nadiem Makarim.

This official announcement came after Uber Technologies Inc. sold their operations in Southeast Asia to Grab as a local competitor. Go-Jek's move will begin with ride-hailing before expanding into other sectors in areas previously occupied by Uber and Grab.

Go-Jek says it will work with regulators and other stakeholders across the region to prepare for new operations as best as possible. This expansion follows Go-Jek's last fundraising that brings investment from companies including Astra International, JD.COM, Tencent, and Temasek.
