OYO Rooms launched 11,000 rooms in 26 cities in China

Tinuku - OYO Rooms announced on Wednesday that it has launched more than 11,000 rooms in 26 cities in China including Hangzhou, Xian and Guangzhou. Tinuku in May reported that Oyo plans to expand international business and is in initial talks with existing investors led by SoftBank Group and two new investors to raise up to US$800 million to accelerate expansion.

"After our successful overseas expansion and operations in Malaysia and Nepal, we are delighted to offer a seamless and standard stay experience for our guests in China," said Oyo founder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal.

"The country's tourism industry is at the peak of a boom and is evolving where it enjoys strong currents from domestic and international tourists. Also, the market is fragmented like the Indian hotel market, "Agarwal said.

"Our expertise in managing hotel networks supported by technological innovation will continue to strengthen our footprint while empowering environmental hotels to emerge in with great hospitality," Agawal said.

Oyo was established in 2013 at Gurugram and operates in more than 150 cities across India, China, Malaysia and Nepal. This start-up Unicorn is part of a small group of Indian startups, including the Ola cab application and Lenskart eyewear retailer growing abroad.
