Didi to hire 8,000 customer support staff after passenger murders

Tinuku - Didi is setting aside a new RMB 140 million (US$20 million) fund dedicated to boosting its safety support team. It’s decided to stop outsourcing customer services and will expand its in-house customer support team to 8,000 employees by the end of this year.

The initiative was announced this morning by Cheng Wei, Didi’s founder and CEO. The Chinese ride-hailing firm has taken steps to beef up safety measures following the second murder of a rider in three months that prompted government scrutiny and public outrage.
